Frequently Asked Questions

Where do you meet? Is it every week?
Most of our meetups happen at The Emerson bar, located in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. We meet every week, always on Saturdays, and we sometimes also meet at Marco's in Bushwick and play in the backyard when it's nice out.

Do you play for money?
Yes, but if you aren't comfortable playing for money, we can accommodate that! Our standard gameplay is $3 per point.

What is a chouette?
A chouette is a fun multi-person backgammon game allowing more folks to play at once. They are very engaging and a great way to learn more about the game! For more information, see our chouette rules page.

I'm new to backgammon, can I play with you?
Yes! Feel free to DM us on instagram or email us at [email protected] and we'll make sure someone will be available to show you the ropes or play some intro games with you.

Do I need to bring a board?
No, but it can't hurt!

How big are your meetups?
Saturdays are our biggest days, we can have anywhere from 5-20 people. When we have a lot of folks, we set up multiple chouettes. When we have chouettes at other locations they are usually smaller.

Do I need to be approved to join, or pay a membership fee?
No, just show up and bring your winning attitude! Although buying some of our sick merch will put any doubts to rest.

How can I get this sick merch that you speak of?
Come to a Saturday chou and ask Joe or Babs -- we'll get ya set up with the right gear!

Do you host tournaments?
Yes! See our tournaments page for more.
